Ahead of our own debut Jazz Club event, we use our weekly dose of nostalgia to laugh at the very concept via The Fast Show. The beloved sketch show re-wrote the rule book for its own genre, packing 25-odd comedy sketches into it’s 30 minute-length episodes on the BBC.
While doing so, they mocked those deeply ingrained within a genre of their own, with the Louis Balfour hosting the ‘Jazz Club.’ Running through a list of fictional cats with ridiculous names, John Thomson’s character would always reel off the superlatives. Nice.
