Jeshi dropped a full EP we’ve been waiting on for a while this month, as Bad Taste brings seven and a bit songs of varied yet cohesive British rap.
Likened to a certain slowthai often enough, partly due to touring with the Northampton rapper, Jeshi’s been steadily putting music out for a while now. Apparently, his first studio set up used the tiny microphone from a Nintendo Wii… who said Spotify bios are always boring?
Anyway, this EP is class. It’s got elements of what you’d probably go ahead and call trap music to the production, yet Jehsi’s lyrical content and delivery is calculated and poignant. That Britishness comes from not only his accent but also the beat selection, while well-chosen features from regular collaborator Celeste, Fredwave and John Glacier help Bad Taste to become a project to listen to from start to finish.
