Coming with a beautiful, classic R&B sound and so much more, Yoji’s new single is a must-listen.
Poppy enough for the easiest of easy listens and a definite earworm thanks to a gorgeous panflute in the instrumentation, the London-born and Suffolk-raised singer hits the spot with Head Can’t Be Turned. Yoji performed live during the lockdown on none other than BBC Radio 4, in case you needed further evidence of what a timeless artist sounds like.

💙Appreciation Post 💙 I want to say a massive thank you to the wonderful musicians playing on my new single ‘Head Can’t Be Turned’ and the fabulous team involved. I recorded the majority of the instruments (panpipes, keys & drums) and produced this track at Goldsmiths myself. My talented friend @piotryaszczuk is rocking the panpipes providing beautiful tones to the song. I recorded this live in @gms_gold and also recorded the drums performed by the amazing @mr_ammos . The marvellous @michael_playsmusic is playing sweet guitar & bass guitar on this track! I later re-recorded my vocals at @cliqueproductionslondon with the lovely John Robinson @cl1queuk who also pre-mixed the track. @abdulshyllon my inspiring vocal coach helping me achieve the best performance in the booth! My friend from goldsmiths the wonderful @barnabaspoffley (also mixed Hiding Place) provided a fresh mix on the track and it is mastered by @metropolismusic. Special thanks the fantastic @francine_perry_ for my 1-1 production lessons at Goldsmiths giving me the confidence and skills to create this vision. @ikaamunuo dad-ager for the love, support and guidance✨ #musicians #liverecorded #newmusic #yojiheadcantbeturned #musicteam
As well as being a hit with the estate drivers tuned into Radio 4, we hope this one goes down with the Offie Mag demographic, too. Find it on your streaming server of choice.
