Allexa Nava defies tradition with 'No Language'

Allexa Nava releases her most expansive body of work to date with No Language.

The Peruvian-born, London-based saxophonist, flautist, and composer pushes against the limitations of traditional musical education, embracing a freer, boundary-breaking approach.

People often say there are no wrong notes—that even dissonance, given the right context, can resolve into something beautiful. With this project, Nava and the incredibly talented musicians alongside her put that idea to the test.

Throughout, we hear a non-conformist approach to composition that, while rooted in jazz, ventures into rhythmically complex and harmonically rich territory. It’s a showcase not just of Nava’s virtuosity but of everyone involved. 'For Those Not Here' feels like a battle between two competing ideas, yet they glide around each other, allowing both to shine. 'Recortes' brings a Latin flavour, with shifting timbres keeping the sound fresh and unpredictable.

Having graced the stages of major UK festivals—We Out Here, Wilderness, Brainchild, and Glastonbury—Nava now heads to Brick Lane Jazz Festival on April 25th. Grab your tickets here and buy No Language here.
