Ania Hoo is taking off on ‘Club Venus’

North Brunswick-based artist Ania Hoo is set to release VENUS this coming Valentine's Day, and if her latest single, Club Venus’, is anything to go by, prepare to dance your way to the moon and beyond.

You might be asking yourself, Ania Who? (couldn’t resist) but she’s been steadily releasing music since 2018. Raised in New Jersey by Jamaican parents, her sound is deeply influenced by her Caribbean roots and eclectic upbringing.

On Club Venus, Hoo blends alt-R&B with house beats to craft something that's euphoric and danceable. She explores themes of shedding self-doubt and embracing those with real intentions. In her own words: “I don’t want anyone to think I ‘need’ them. I don’t validate anyone; validating is for parking.” This sentiment comes to life in “Mr. Nobody”, the groovy soul-infused track released in 2024 which will also feature on VENUS.

The video for ‘Club Venus’, shot during a trip to London, captures the capital’s charm—red phone boxes, tube stations, streetlight-lit residential streets, and even a LEON! (I love a rice box.) It’s the perfect backdrop for a track that’ll have you nodding your head, momentarily forgetting how much TFL is draining from your account tonight.

VENUS promises to be a celebration of liberation, joy, and connection, and Ania invites us all to join her on this transformative journey. You can listen to ‘Club Venus’ here.
