Audrey Powne is set to return with her second album, Bodies of Water, arriving September 25th via BBE Music.

Following her 2024 debut From the Fire, the Melbourne-born, London-based trumpeter, vocalist, composer and producer turns her attention from fire to water, using the element as a way to explore vulnerability, responsibility and the ways we exist alongside one another.

Inspired by a passage from Caleb Azumah Nelson’s Small Worlds, the album reflects on personal upheaval and the wider instability of the world around us. Tracks including ‘Swollen’, ‘Broken Record’ and ‘Karma’ look inward, while ‘Stay Awake’, ‘Creeds’, ‘RYV’ and ‘Two Sides’ tackle political polarisation and the disconnect between language and action.

Musically, Powne brings together traditional jazz with Afrobeat rhythms, Dilla-inspired grooves, ambient textures and warped soul. Her trumpet sits at the centre of the record, alongside her vocals, keys and expansive arrangements, creating something that moves between moments of calm and rhythmic turbulence.

Written between London, New York and hotel rooms while touring as a session musician, Bodies of Water sees Powne continue to expand beyond the trumpet and establish a complete picture of her artistic identity.

Bodies of Water is released worldwide on September 25th via BBE Music, with the album available across streaming platforms and vinyl. A headline tour announcement is expected later this month.
