Big Ears announce Valentines Day dance with Haseeb Iqbal and Kotoa in Brighton

On Wednesday 14th February, Big Ears host a Valentine’s special at Brighton’s Waterbear Music Bar.

The night features writer and broadcaster Haseeb Iqbal—one of the UK’s most prolific cultural voices—and a live set from Kotoa, an emerging ensemble blending electronics, soul and, for lack of a more specific term, worthy of doing the job - experimental rhythm.

It’s the latest in a series of community-rooted shows by the Big Ears team, who recently received backing from PRS Foundation’s Early Career Promoter Fund—supporting new promoters shaping the future of live music. Their custom-built sound system has already travelled from Shai Space in Peckham to UK festivals and beyond, and now returns to Brighton for a night that invites “all types of love for a dance.”

Live music blends into a clubnight here, and early bird tickets are available via Resident Advisor.

The ethos is best summed up by Haseeb himself, who told us back in ISSUE ELEVEN: “There’s a space in every road you look in. It’s not the space that makes the culture—it’s the people who occupy it. And we’re still here.”

People will be filling spaces for further dances in this series, so drop Big Ears a follow on socials if people is you.
