Dom Valentino has called up some big guns on his new one. Jeshi, Celeste, Fredwave, Elijah Waters — all on one track. What a treat.
Yes, this is a song called ‘MAGAZINE’ being covered in a magazine’s blog. It practically writes itself.
We tend to get so focused on songs having deep meanings that make you really think about things. But sometimes you just want to listen to something fun. This isn’t a song that’s going to change the state of the world — but it’ll get you moving to the point that you might just forget for a moment how fucked it all is.
If you don’t know Dom Valentino, he’s the man behind some of the coolest music coming out of the UK for the best part of a decade, with credits going back to Skepta’s Konnichiwa. Hailing from south London, he’s had his finger on the city’s pulse and knows who could pop off next.
He even once came down to Worthing — of all places — to play the bass for a Deema show that I was DJing at. They coined the term ‘swerving in Worthing’ that day, and we’ve been taking it to the bank every day since.
This is a great track about magazines — and we love magazines. Specifically, independent print magazines. And Dom even says, “I like your magazine, and everyone who buys it,” so he’s a fan of all you guys too.
