Drill Scott Heron raps are inspired by his near namesake

London rapper Drill Scott Heron has one of the better names we've heard in recent years, and his introspective, gritty honesty can be put down to influence from his near namesake, Gil Scott-Heron.

When Thugs Cry is a six-track EP produced by Kiina whose worked with the likes of Goya Gumbani and CLBRKS in recent years. Drill Scot Heron, despite having the name of rap sub-genre in his name, actually leans more towards the Hip Hop side of things, rapping on sample-based loops with heavy, clapping drums.

Expect lyrical content that touches on his upbringing in London, the harsh realities of present day, and on You Never Know, it reaches its pinnacle with the EP's title coming to the fore on the outro. The result is a well-rounded project with strong production tying it together, as well as a rapper to keep an eye on.
