Eddie Chacon announces new project, Lay Low

When I attended Love Supreme Festival this summer, I was told repeatedly that I just had to see Eddie Chacon, and he certainly did not disappoint.

So, finding out that he has a new project arriving in the new year is cause for excitement. Lay Low produced by Nick Hakim, is Chacon’s third solo album, where he takes us on a deeply personal journey, reflecting on the grief of losing his mother, Patricia.

Although the album was recorded over two years in Hakim’s Brooklyn studio, Eddie and Nick connected instantly, recording three songs in just three days. Chacon noted, “From that point forward, it seemed like we’d been working together forever.”

The lead single, ‘Empire’, features John Carroll Kirby, who produced Chacon’s first two solo albums. The track serves as a sonic bridge between Sundown and the new project. Empire explores how we can be more fragile than we realise, with Chacon adding, “It’s about facing the damage that’s been done once it’s too late to save.” As he poignantly sings, “everything we have is like an empire that we built upon the sand.”

This October and November, Eddie will embark on a headline tour across the United Kingdom, with performances in cities like Manchester, Brighton, London, and more.
