I love a trilogy—Back to the Future, Spider-Man, Lord of the Rings, The Godfather, and now Like A Ribbon, John Glacier’s debut album, released by Young.
2024 has been pretty great for John Glacier, with Like A Ribbon and Duppy Gun standing out as two of the year’s most fascinating projects. With the release of the Kwes Darko-produced 'Found', she announces the completion of the Like A Ribbon trifecta. This debut album comprises the aforementioned projects alongside the yet-to-be-released Angels Trumpet. While guest features from SURF GANG, Sampha, and Eartheater add richness to the experience, it’s John Glacier’s voice that remains the central focus throughout.
Glitchy, glossy, reverbed pianos over some bumpy drums are key to the sound of new single 'Found', and John glides over it all with the same nonchalant flow that's put her on the map since she broke through with Shiloh and we get an Abena Appiah-directed video to go with it that perfectly fits the track's atmosphere.
