Off Licence Magazine’s monthly clubnight continues into its fifth edition this June, landing on the same day as one of Brighton’s most important cultural events: the BARCO BASH Carnival.

As the daytime celebrations in St Ann’s Well Gardens come to a close, The Offie Mag Social picks things up into the night with a takeover from London clubnight plentyppl.

Founded around a shared love of Black dance music, plentyppl have built a reputation over the past two years for nights that centre sound, intention and a communal feel to the night that - depsite the supreme talent of every DJ who have ever featured on their blue posters - tends to decentre the idea of the DJ as the focal point.

From Moko to Colour Factory, BBE Store to The Carpet Shop, their parties have become a consistent fixture for many in the capital — and, occasionally, those willing to take the first Thameslink home.

This collaboration brings that energy to Brighton for one night only, with tickets available via Resident Advisor.

All profits from the event will be donated to BARCO (Black Anti-Racism Community Organisation), the Brighton-based group behind the BASH Carnival. The organisation continues to play a key role in creating space for Black culture and community in the city, both through the annual carnival and wider year-round work.

The Offie Mag Social remains a simple proposition: good music, played properly, in a small independent venue with a crowd that wants to be there. This edition adds a further layer — connecting a daytime celebration of culture and community with a nighttime space to continue it.
