Offie Mag's Music of the Month: Diani, looms., 'non-contemporary jazz' and more (April 2023)

Our monthly Spotify playlist has been updated and we’ve gone with Diani on the cover of it for April 2023.

A proud Brooklynite, Diani was on the brink of a move to LA when we spoke to her for ISSUE EIGHT of our print magazine. Having grown up in the Hip Hop Mecca with a famous rap artist as a father, we naturally had to ask how that upbringing shapes her own music.

‘Everything that has happened to you as a child affects you and what you do. I had a normal childhood and went to school and that, but during vacations, I hung out with my dad and got to see that lifestyle. My mom, on the other hand, didn’t have any money.’

‘It was a double-sided world. When I was with my mom, nobody knew anything, I was broke. When I was with my dad, it was different. So I got the best of both worlds - it’s affected my perspective, for sure.’

Diani’s new EP Wormhole brings timeless-sounding rhymes to beats that harness where she, Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy and Hip Hop have been, where they’re at and where they’re going.

Find out for yourself via the Offie Mag Spotify playlist, which also features a new release from the nomadic rapper looms. and some 'non-contemporary jazz' from Greg Foat and Art Themen.
