Quinn Oulton releases ‘Comfort Food’

What’s your comfort food? For some it’s ramen; for others, it’s their mum’s shepherd’s pie. Mine is ham, egg and chips, but only if there are two eggs. These are the meals we turn to for nostalgia, the ones that take us back to a time when life felt easier, happier, or maybe just a little brighter.

Quinn Oulton’s ‘Comfort Food’ takes that sentiment and reframes it in a way that cuts much deeper than craving a pack of chocolate digestives in bed. Instead, the track offers an unusual perspective on addiction. Through light and dark symbolism, he paints it as a relationship that is intimate, consuming and complicated. The lyrics unfold from the perspective of someone who sees their addiction as both religion and saviour, the only presence that truly understands and forgives them.

Released via Dutch label Frequency, ‘Comfort Food’ is the latest single from multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer Quinn Oulton. It sees him move beyond the rigid categorisations of his classical jazz roots to explore the spaces in between genres. The result is a nuanced blend of alternative RnB and experimental pop, shaped by deep musical understanding but delivered with an ease that feels instinctive rather than academic.

Quinn has always approached music as an explorer. His work reflects a profound grasp of complex musical concepts, yet he translates them seamlessly into more contemporary, open-hearted spaces. His recordings feel classic in construction, revealing hidden layers for those who listen closely.
