Based in Amsterdam, British saxophonist and composer Sam Newbould has released an ambitious 11-track jazz album for summer 2024, Homing.

Leading the way on the alto, Newbould emerges for solos reminiscent of those recorded in the 1960s, whilst delicate extra layerings such as vocals from Beth Aggett across the record or the subtle samba sounds of Dog dance (track 11) make for something attuned with jazz of today.

Released by indie jazz specialists ZenneZ Records, also based in the Netherlands, you can expect to hear this album played across Newbould's live sets during what looks like a busy summer for him. Love Supreme. North Sea Jazz Festival. The Vortex. A swell summer with a fitting soundtrack.
