Space Ghost annouces Back From Reality

Space Ghost has announced Back From Reality, his first solo album since 2022. Landing October 9th via Peace World Records, the LP sees the producer weaving together ambient, downtempo and house into a deeply reflective collection exploring escapism, creativity and the search for stillness in an increasingly chaotic world.

Drawing heavily from the ambient and electronic music of the late '90s and early 2000s, Back From Reality is steeped in the nostalgic glow of the PS2 era. From startup screens and save menus to the soundtracks of games like Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape and Gran Turismo, the album imagines an alternate universe where Space Ghost was composing for the console generation. It's a concept that speaks to the producer's long-held interest in writing music for video games, translating those familiar digital spaces into warm, immersive electronic compositions.

Inspired by the minimalist artwork that defined electronic releases of the early 2000s, the cover was photographed by Space Ghost himself while driving through the quiet industrial landscapes of Oakland at night. Those late-night journeys became a key part of the creative process, with the album embracing the meditative feeling of empty roads and glowing streetlights.

Written over the course of five years, Back From Reality reflects the realities of balancing artistic ambition with everyday life. Created around the demands of a day job, the record positions music as both a creative outlet and a form of escape. While its warm textures and understated grooves offer a welcome sense of calm, the album also quietly acknowledges the uncertainty of the present.

Back From Reality arrives via Peace World Records on October 9th, 2026. Pre-order here if you know what's good for you.
