'Chrono’, a derivative of the Greek Kronos, meaning time. Time is exactly what you need to give this track. It starts off strong, but as it progresses, the way the production develops and the way the vocal performance adapts to it makes for a truly rewarding listen.
The track tells the story of Lex losing someone he loves and his determination to win them back. In a relationship damaged by toxicity and addiction, though, there’s a lingering taste of self-loathing. It leaves you wondering if any amount of time can heal it, or if it’s time for him to put his heart into something else.
Instrumentally, there’s a vintage feel created by vinyl crackle and tape effects, contrasting with modern synthesis and recording techniques. Countermelodies weave through the textures: crystal-like bells that pan across your ears, Clams Casino-style vocal chops in the rap-heavy verses, and a guitar-led second breakdown. It’s an incredibly well-produced track that highlights Lex Suntane’s ability to bring a dynamic performance to his music.
This is the first we’ve heard from Lex, and trust me, it’s worth the ‘Chrono’.
